:nilly: Hi everyone, I believe this is my first post here even though I have been on this site for a few months just cruising around. My concern is that I just recently went to a local fish store looking for some big cichlids. The lady there offered me a proven breeding pair of adult Turquoise Severums for $60 and I couldnt resist. I hope I made a good buy. Anyways, I have a 6'x24"x30" and I also have a 75 gallon. In the big tank there is a ~12" Red Devil/Midas, ~12" Albino Tiger Oscar, adult Jack Dempsey and the pair of Severums. In the 75 I have a baby flowerhorn, jaguar, green severum, and jack dempsey. Now that I got all of that out of the way I can get to my actual question. Should I leave the pair of severums in the big tank or move them to the smaller tank since the red devil bullies anything that goes in the tank. Or should I move the red devil to the 75 and put the smaller fish in the larger tank with the other fish. I know its alot to read but can someone please help me decide.

Well, I have noticed that my Red Devil is really not paying too much attention to them anymore. It must of just been an initial thing. I think I will leave them in the large tank unless the Devil decides to go psycho.

at some point chances are you're going to have to get rid of some fish. the severums probably won't be able to breed in the bigger tank with all those other fish in there, and if they decide to start putting up a fight for a territory (which breeding pairs often do) then this may upset the devil and cause someone to get severely injured.

if you want to breed them then I agree that putting them in their own tank would be your best bet. :)
