So I have a 300 gallon paludarium of Madagascar and I just finished it and it came out really nice and this morning I was going to post pics of it until i noticed a hairline crak going from one corner to another on the base(its elevated) dripping water. Im asking what the best solution is. I have drained the tank and moved the fish and thats taken care of but should I remove the bottom pane and have it professionally fixed or apply a regiment of glass sealant and silicone and go that route? Thanks, Jonathan

I would be inclined to have the tank professionally repaired but sparing the expense and fixing it yourself, removing the pane of glass is pretty advanced repair for a DIY. I think the other responder has it with siliconing another piece of glass on top of the bottom piece, if you can get it inside the tank past the bracing. I have heard of using clear mylar, siliconed down and the edges "locked" down with an additional silicone bead around the perimeter of the tank...like the mylar is very thin glass...I'm told it works like a charm.
Whatever you do, my condolences, and good luck with the repair.

Thanks for all the help I ended up just moving the land portion to where the water portion (since they were equal portions) used to be and taking a lot of weight off by using majority styrofoam blocks on top of the glass pane. Hope it works out well!
