In the spring sometime ill be upgrading to either a 4x2x2 or a 6x2x2. The original plan was to get the 120 (4x2x2) and continue with the theme I have in my current 55 gallon which is an African odd ball tank, that is untill I heard I could get a jardini arowana if I go abit bigger to the 180 (6x2x2). Ive always loved arowana but I always thought that I would never be able to properly house one due to their large size that was untill I heard a jardini would be gpod in a 180. My question to you guys is, what would you do, stick with the African oddball 120 or go with a jardini in a 180? Right now its 50/50 for me. Also another question, would I be able to house anything with a jar ?

The favorite topic of this site, aro tank size. 180 gallon is fine for a jardini.

The issue I see is that a lot of people don't like just one fish in a large tank. It may sound cool at first, but the aro will insist to be alone. You may get away with some tough bottom dwellers but even that is not guaranteed.

Your jardini will probably end up solo, personally I don't like using tank for one fish,...would you consider using the new tank for something completely different (Tanganyika cichlid community perhaps or saltwater)

In my experience Housing anythin with a jard is hard, but I have had success with getting a small jard and to make sure the other fish are equal size or larger but wont harass the jard. I kept Birchers plecs and a couple cichlids with my old one all with no issues. But does depend on the fish.

Yea thats what im thinking. And what im probably going to end up doing is getting more bichirs and get a couple ca/sa cichlids. Can't stand any African cichlids :p
