We currently have a 20 gallon with 4 juvenile Geophagus that will be rehomed in a 55 gallon that I am passing along to my father (about 3 inches each)
The 55 gallon currently has a Green Terror, Jack Dempsey, Texas, Convict, Red Tail Black Shark, and Firemouth, all juvenile (about 2-3 inches each for the small and the Texas and JD about 3-4 inches)
The 70 gallon has a juvenile Tiger Oscar (about an inch) and a juvenile Albino Oscar (about 2 inches) and a juvenile Red Tail Black Shark (about an inch and a half)
The 55g and the Geo's are being passed along to my dad and were upgrading to a 125g that is apparently on a truck on its way here. So the 55g will be gone soon and the 20g empty.
Were not sure how were going to move the tanks around yet so I need some advice. We plan on putting the 2 oscars in the 125g.
Our issue is that we really really want some Frontosas. Here would be our options, we could get 4-6 juveniles in the 70g and weed out the bigger ones until we have about 2 left in the 70g and keep them there until they outgrow it. Then decide what to do when the time comes (sell them or upgrade again). We want to make sure that the fish are taken care of. This would mean that we would need to get rid of the cichlids that are currently in our 55g as we would not put them in with our Oscars or the Fronts.
Another option would be to put some Fronts in with the Oscars (in the 125g), again, getting a few and weeding out the bigger ones, maybe keeping 2 at the end, but were not sure if we want to mix the Oscars with the Fronts but this way we would be able to put the other american cichlids that are currently in our 55g in our 70g.
I might put the Convict and the Green Terror in the 20g until they outgrow it as well. If we don't put the Fronts in with the Oscars then we might reintroduce them to the 125g when they are all a bit bigger. Right now these two are bigger than our Oscars.
All opinions are welcome.
