What to feed a small polypterus?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Bloodworms, blackworms, mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, smelt, squid, krill, sinking shrimp pellets, and mine will also eat floating pellets.

try frozen foods like shrimps, smelts, and muscles, your bichir will eventually get those guppies, if the tank is too big, you might want to transfer your bichir to a grow out tank so that food is easily accessible

They like to eat meaty foods so cut up some shrimp, smelts, worms, fish fillet, silversides, etc. so that it will fit your bichirs mouth. They like to swallow their food whole so if they are too big they don't bother trying. Also try some hikari sinking carnivore pellets.

Frozen bloodworms, frozen krill, and sinking pellets are what I feed my small bichirs.

i wonder if u could do ham orturkey or roast beef or some deli meat like that any ideas?
no...processed meat are not good for fish. even if they are fresh and not processed, i still wouldn't feed these to fish. there are much better and more suitable choices mentioned in this thread.
