Just taken the plung and bought a 7 inch baby silver. He is residing in the the 125 gallon growing tank at the moment with some other baby monsters till they have grown on a bit and can be put in the big tank. I have never had an arowana before and was wondering if what i am feeding him is ok. His staple at the moment is cut up prawns. He will take blood worm but he isn't fast enough to get many as the baby tiger oscar takes care of them. He isn't intersted in floating pellets and they are gone sharpish too thanks to the baby clown knife. Any other suggestions would be good except feeders as i don't want to start them on them for many reasons. (including my wifes horror!). he does seem fine and is swimming happily and eats well, just want to know that he is getting everything he needs.

Try gutloaded mealworms, crickets and superworms. Get him on Cichlid gold.

i live in scotland and have no idea what superworm or mealworm is! Crickets i can do. Earthworms from the back garden i can do and lance fish i can do but some of the food on here is american and i have no idea what it is?! sorry!?

Are king pawn not good for him?

Mine eats flakes, pellets blood worms, freeze dried krill, just about anything that somewhat floats. When they are smaller it can take them a while to get brave enough to swim down to the bottom of the tank.

the pet shops will tell you food sticks and its the truth find a hariki food stick bag with an arowana on it thats the best thing for young arowanas

Yeah, make a good effort to get him on some type of floating pellet or food stick. Use everything else as a treat. Your arowana will thank you, and so will your wallet, lol.

I personally use Hikari Cichlid Gold and loved the results. Good Luck!

Yah man. This cichlid bio gold pellet is just the right size compared to the foodstick. And it's more protein packed.
