What to feed ckeckerboard cichlids?

I always see bb shrimp suggested for fry. I just crush up the pellets I feed to my adult fish. It has worked well for all the fry I’ve raised.
For the really little guys I’ll soak the crushed pellet powder in tank water. Then I use a syringe to squirt it into the tank at feeding time.

These guys aren't tiny baby fish but still are big enough to be store bought for $6 for one of them.
