I recently acquired a nice Lenticulata but all it will eat is frozen krill. It will kill live food but not actually eat it. I am new to pike cichlids, this is the first I have ever owned. He eats well, ide just like to know what these guys like so I can keep his diet varied. Thanks in advance!

i have one pike that i cant get to really eat anything but krill. ive feed alot of my pike bloodworms when they were juveniles and sometimes they'd eat the hole frozen cube but if it thaws or he spits it out it just ends up all over the place.
mysis shrimp are another option but kinda similar to krill. i tend to like the frozen foods and if u can get him to eat a cube out of ur hand then u can feed all sorts of stuff like beefheart and i dunno if they still make cichlid delight.

My Lents won't touch pellets but they will eat Nightcrawlers, Krill, Market Prawn,
talapia and Muscles right out of the shell.
Try to starve him for a little bit then try again. I once starved a marmorata for 21 days and she still would not touch pellets.
I would stay away from feeders unless you quarantine them first.

Thanks for the tips. As far as quarantining feeders im well ahead of the game there. I keep Cichla as well and one of my Kelberi will only eat feeders. Given that, I have had to take special measures just for that one fish. All my feeders (shiners) go into a quarantine tank for atleast a week and are kept well fed with a very regular maintenance schedule. I am new to Crenicichla but not new to predatory fish! Thanks again
My Lents and other Pikes will not mess with Krill at all. However, I do feed them cut up cooked shrimp, Silversides, Nightcrawlers and feeders sometimes. They are so quick! I plan on trying other things in the near future.
