i keep readin in the books to feed particulate matter, what does that exactly mean? does that mean i shud mash brineshrimp up till its lil bits and pieces or is there a particular food they reffer to?

the filter feeders like xenia and kenia tree and such... i already got some phyto plankton though n they have brightened up... doin well

Well much debate has been going on with Octocoral's like your Xenia and kenya on what do they exactly eat. Myself and a few other aquarist such as Eric Borenmen have focused on that talk a while back. I know they will utilize phyto-plankton, but most of what we figured since most Octocoral's don't have nematicist to capture prey like most other coral's like your SPS, and LPS coral's. I think and most of what I have studied and read is they use alot of bacteria-plankton for food and utilize phyto also they may but rarely catch zooplankton.
