quick question, sorry if its in the wrong section but....

as my community is growing, there eating more n more each n every day. they all love hikeri gold large pellets. but i have to throw in like 6 hand fulls a day to make sure everyones full. is there a place i can bulk order the large pellets or is there something different you guys start to feed your fish when they get to damn big to keep on pellets. there has to be a cheaper alternative thats easier to come by n comes with more. can i jus go to a market n buy a grip of already dead small fish n keep everyone on that stuff? i want them to be healthy as possible but something a lil cheaper to come by? or atleast comes with more...

im tired of spendin 10-15 bux on the biggest bag of hikeri large pellets n have to buy another one in 3 days. suggestions? thanks guys.

Market shrimp 61/70 count 2lb bags frozen raw at your local grocery store. Should be around $10. I would not recommend feeding until your fish stop eating, that is over feeding. each of my arowanas only get one shrimp every day, with 2 days of no food every week.

Heh i'm with you man... How am i suppose to feed 2 arowanas an oscar 4 outher chichlids and like 20 bottom feeders? these are with all my tanks.. i mean cant they give us something thats like cheap but is in a huge bag. that sinks and floats?

i don't over feed, when a fish is full he doesn't eat, food still floating gets tore up by the gars n the gars eat a freakin grip. gourami keeps eating all day long. i need some kinda routine or something. im afraid to go a day without feeding because the aro's start going crazy in the tank when i walk by if they dont eat. the gars killed a fish the last time i went a day without feeding. anyone else got any recommendations?

When they stop eating is a bad gauge IMO. When you do this they have had quite a bit of food, and that will translate into excessive waste. Don't let your fish dictate what you feed, or how much. I spend maybe $30 every 3 months on shrimp, and I have 4 silvers 14-16", 1 Royal knife 11", 1 9" ornate bichir, 11" fahaka puffer, 7 adult cons, 100+ baby cons, and more than I want to even think of counting tetras, barbs, rasboras, sharks, and plecos.

For pellets I go with Omega One and Hikari Bio-Gold. Also some shrimp, krill, and veggies for fish that will take them.

I feed all of my big fish shrimp, smelt, beefheart, krill, worms, and pellets.

Shrimp and smelt is the cheapest for big fish.

is shirmp n smelt something they can be on for the daily food? right now there just eating pellets. only pellets. maybe once a month ill throw large feeders for the gars but thats about it. so is it ok to put them on a meaty kinda food for good? thanks guys

Wow...you got some Monster Predators. Have you ever tried buying bulk Koi food? That might work as a filler. Mix it with your usual pellets. I think fish hatcheries have some high protein pellets that they might sell you.

Yes. That's what I feed almost daily.
