He was wild caught. Right now he is only accepting earthworms. I tried pellets but he spit them out. I would like to eventually get him to take pellets and dried food but I'll do what I have to now.

Feed him earthworms then try feeding some frozen foods along with the earthworms and he will eventually see that they are edible. then feed frozen along with freeze dried and then when he's used to that, feed freeze dried with pellets.

Mine ate pellets right when he hit the aquarium.

That is weird, I've never seen a green turn down any food, are you sure he's a green? (serious)

Try him on some dried krill so get him started eating dried foods, I've yet to see any fish turn those down. That's what we started our shadow bass on and eventually they learned to accept other dried foods and pellets.
He may also accept other dried foods, and if so it shouldn't be too hard to get him on pellets eventually.
Another option is too not feed him for a few days, it won't hurt him and if he's very hungry when you do go to feed he's more likely to eat it.

I would get my hands on a few crickets, get the fish used to eating from the top of the water, i would throw one (don't over feed) in every time i cam near the tank for the 1st 2 weeks or so.

starve the fish for 3 days or so and try pellets, you may need to soak them 1st.

in my opinion, grabbing and spitting it out is not a bad sign. I have a shadow bass now that will just look at pellets and thats after 4 days w/o food (been in the tank since feb). almost every sunfish i have ever had spit out pellets at first, a green will most defiantly come around

Mine ate anything that other fish would eat. Pellets, krill, bloodworms, etc.

feed him krill, toss them ontop of the water or hold it in the water on the surface with your hand. the krill will make your sunfish beautiful. it made my warmouth dark black with green stripes and bright red highlights

I have 2 Green Sunfish and they eat pretty much anything.
For the most part they dont like hard food like pellets...but if you have to use pellets soak them in water first.

I feed mine freeze dried mealworms, freeze dried brine shrimp, night crawlers, crickets, and gold fish.
