Hey guys! Wanted to get some ideas as to what to feed my p niger. He's still a baby, and is very happy in his tank. He gets excited over the flake food, but I'd like to start hand feeding him to make sure he's eating enough. He's perfectly calm when I try and give him food, but he's not interested in the pleco's sinking pellets. Any suggestions?

Try some frozen bloodworms, earthworms or sinking catfish pellets. That Niger cat is awesome, wish they were available here!

The bloodworms he hasn't taken too well to, I got some catfish pellets today. Tried to feed him some earlier, but he was too wound up. I tried to feed him and he just kept bumping into me to get my attention and sticking his out out of the water looking for flakes :grinno: Will have to try when he's more relaxed.

Great pickup, I just got two babies a month ago (about 4") they seem to eat anything. Keep trying the bloodworms, also any good quality flake food or sinking pellets. Maybe some frozen brine shrimp too.

I had some sub-adults (18") in the past and they really liked sinking shrimp pellets, but would also come to the surface for whatever the other fish were eating.

They are really great fish. Hope you have a BIG tank!!

These guys really are great fish, TONS of personality! He's in a 100 gallon tank, which I'm hoping will be good for a little while. If I get a year out of this tank I'll be happy. He hasn't been growing very fast, but in the past month he's become much more active and eager to feed, so lord only knows how fast he'll grow now.
