my jd has stopped eating the sinking hikari gold pellets that i was feeding it, it is to shy to come to the top if the tank for food and the greedy GT likes to stuff its mouth with as much food as possible . my JD goes crazy for peas that i give it once in a while. does anybody have any ideas on some new food?

If you live near a seafood market, go buy some small shrimp. Peel them and take the tail off, cut it in small pieces and see if they like it. ALL my fish go crazy for them. You can get them at the grocery store too, Id just feed them raw ones though, not cooked. I dont think it hurts for them to be boiled, but there are more vitamins and protein in raw ones.

did something happen to make it shy? also is it possible it could be sick? have you seen its poo recently? you could try a sinking pellet

i transfered it to its new tank a week or two ago, i dont think its sick its always been shy when it comes to eating. it just seems to have decided no more pellets, i can tell its hungry but it i dont know what to feed it that would provide all the nutrients that the pellets do. i bet it would like shrimp but i cant just feed it shrimp only.

Feed it in the dark. Bloodworms, mysis, and krill snag all my picky eaters.

it'll eat when its hungry mine did the same thing with my gt it learnt to get faster and eat b4 the gt he was only 2"

i softened the pellets and the jd ate one, good news, however the gt also fancies them more and gets like 6 for every 1 the jd gets. meh i guess hes always hungry if he dies from eating to much its not my fault lol

im gonna try dumping a bunch of softened pellets in at once so they all have a fair chance at getting some
