What to feed Small Mouth Buffalo

I've been keeping a pair of small mouth buffalo for about a year on a diet of algea wafers. They have been doing good on this and the sand and any detritus found along the bottom, however I am concerned about nutrient deficientcies. Does anyone no of other types of food they would take? Thanks for any help.
