Can anyone give me a small overview of what Dats eat? I think the store we got him from was feeding them feeder fish, but we're trying to see what else he would eat. So far I've only tried the same things we already feed our Oscar...bloodworms, floating pellets, and night crawlers. So far he hasn't eaten anything but three of our giant danios lol. And if he isn't seeming to want pellets is the only way to get him to eat them to starve him until he eats them? How does that work?

TIA

It should be pretty easy to train your dat to eat bloodworms. Just keep feedin them to him until he starts to eat them. How big is your dat? I've heard of people starving their dats for like 6 months b4 they would eat non live foods. I have a 4.5" indo and he just started eating bloodworms. I only starved him for like 1 week b4 he started eating them.
Once u get them on bloodworms it's pretty easy to get them onto other prepared foods such as, shrimp, worms, and pellets.

But I hear that small dats are hard to get off of live food. Is that true. Does anyone feed their baby dats prepared foods?? Im trying to get my 1.5" thinbars on bloodworms too. Maybe when they see the 4.5" indo eating the worms they will too???

My small IT feed on pellet (even at the store) ;)

I had an AT (American Tiger aka (as known as) Silver Tiger), its so amazing, it will eat anything, his diet were live fish, pellets and worms, whatever hit the water, is whatever he eat.
