When i got my tank i gat a external canistor and internal filter with it, not much use to be honest as the tank is a 6x2x2 and the external is only good for around 250l, now as i am plannin gon getting some rays i want the filtration to be top notch as it should be.
I was making one my self but when i got the tank home that i was going to make one from i found it had a few cracks in the base, tryed to repair but still leaks.
I went to the LFS just looking around and found a couple of sump filters which were old stock, a 3 footer and this near 4 footer.
Its nock like what i have seen before as in the set out of sump filters but i think it will do the job.
The sponge sectio just slide in and are fed from the bottom of the lets call it the `tower` section. the tower is removable and has 3 section i have got a load of media from a Koi pond i think i mite be able to use which i have added as in the pics.
I will be making a overflow setup to feed the sump soon, i will need to make a big one i think as i will be wanting to do a turnover of around 400g per hour. Been thinking about having 2 siphon pipes of near 1 inch diameter with adjustable taps for flow.
I am waiting for a EHEIM 2260 pump coming in the post which i will be running the set with.
Anyway....what media should i fill the sump with, will the media i have fitted already do the job?
There will be some media going in the pump chamber to polish the water as there is plenty of room, with the heaters also.
Any suggestuion are welcome folks.
