I have ha a ball python for 9 years now and I'm looking to get another snake. I have bee considering getting a carpet python, Guyana rainbow boa, or a Brazilian rainbow boa. First, what should I get and why. I'm open to other species as long as the snake isn't to aggressive, expensive, or large.

Not "aggressive", "expensive" or "large". - A contradiction in terms there buddy, something's got to give.

What do you mean? There are plenty of things out there that fit this description.

Out of the ones you listed, I would go with the Brazilian rainbow boa. They are the easiest to find and the prettiest of that complex IMO. They are also fairly easy to handle and although I have seen a lot of aggressive ones, I have seen just as many tame. If you want something smaller you could look into sand boas. Also don't exclude the colubrids- there are plenty out there that are awesome. Corn snakes are a good starter but also look into some of the beauty snakes for something a little different. Bull snakes, pine snakes, and gopher snakes are one pf my favorite non venomous groups too because they have a showy attitude but when handled regularly, rarely bite.

Look some of these up and get back to me so that we can start narrowing this down. Also, be more specific, are you wanting something colorful? Low maintenance? active? Give us some details on the type of enclosure you have or want and what your budget is.

Im sure you have been looking at and researching snakes online in the 9 years you have owned your ball python, there must be a reason you are considering rainbows and carpets ? Stick to it.

As mentioned, get what YOU like, what YOUR attracted to.
Asking others what kind of snake to buy is like asking people what kind of car should I drive?
To many options and choices.

Yes, you're right. I spoke too soon... There are some very pretty ones out there that are not very expensive or too large. I particularly like the corn snakes.

Nothing wrong with asking, just to get some ideas. Besides, some other members might also be looking, or learn something from these questions and the answers; but yes, I agree with Eduardo, since everyone will tell you what their favorite ones are.

The beauty rat snakes look amazing, and the bull snakes are fairly interesting as well. The enclosure would be a corner tank design, it would have an approximately for square foot base and the tank would be 18" tall, I plan to make my own rock backgrounds that will include caves and hides for the snake as well as a built in waterfall for swimming and added humidity.

cave beauties would be the way to go for that style enclosure. They would be the only ones that would really utilize the rock background and water fall.

Did not mean to offend guys.... its just such a repetitious topic.

None taken on this side, you're OK buddy. That's what we are here for, to give our opinions and input :)
