The wife just got through putting together the 29g. all we need is fish. she wat thinking of some small african cichlids, then a bunch of tetras, now she wants some convicts. what would you put in the 29g?

ps never had cons. know they are mean. what is the max # you would put in a 29g?

if i were u i would get a breeding pair of cons 1 male 1 female.

Then i would also get some neons or other small fast tetras for the tank.
after about 1-2 months u will have 50-100 little fry swimming around the tank. gl

all of those ideas would work ok. i personally love small african cichlid communities. a breeding pair of cons would be coll too!

well, she got a female black convict and a black and a pink that cant be sexed yet. we'll weed out one as soon as they can be sexed

I've been told the easiest way to pair up a pair of convicts is to get 6.. and let them pair off naturally. Then you can keep the pair and either return or sell the rest.

she wanted a black one and a pink one but i think the two black ones have already paired up. the pink one is all by itself

yeah get them mid sized so easily sexed and they will breed...
never seen a tank of convicts that havent bred.
seem to take a while to bond a pair if you have for some reason seperated them though.

first off, i want to say thats a nicely scaped tank!
now if u already have fishes in there, thats cool..! can never go wrong with cons. u can add some tetras or small barbs in there.
about the pair, u can still seperate them id she wants a pink/black pair.
as long as theyre male n female they will eventually pair off.
