What to go with a leaf fish

I have a 40 gallon tank and want to put atleast one south american leaf fish if not more in it. I would like some suggestions on what to put in there with it. I want some crazy, really cool fish that can match the originality of the leaf fish. I would also like for them to to all be south american fish. Thanks for your suggestions.

that tank is pretty small for most of the other oddball new world fish. I would suggest a species tank with a smallish pleco or two maybe a bristle nose or gold nugget

I think a few south american pikes and a school of small pictus cats.

Exotic plecs are always fun! You could go with some L200s!!!

be careful you find the maz size, cause the plecos do change

L200s go in so many tanks! I LOVE THEM! the hit a max of around 6"
