It's been about a week since my last thread. I expect my pregnant motoro will give birth in the next 1-2 weeks. I have noticed a lot more defined movement in her back. I can make out out the actual disc on the little ones.

What signs am I to look for from the mother? This is the first for me and the only thug I'm a little uncertain of is how the mother acts prior to giving birth. Any signs? Or does it just happen? I imagine there's something to look for othe than just the movement in her back

Thanks

From some of the things I have read is that the female will stop eating, and can act more agitated.. But, the heck if I know. haha.

Lol well if that's he case, my female isn't ready yet. She's still puttin away a good 15-18 medium raw shrimp a day along with eating a dozen earthworms 3 times a week and pellets here and there. I switched to the jumbo raw shrimp (it was buy one get one free at food lion and I'm going through two bags in under a wk) and it's hard to gauge how much she's eating now, still a bunch

Lol. I get a seafood medly for my Fahaka puffer (had octopus, cuttlefish, clams, shrimp and some other things..) puff got tired of it, but the rays love it!

They have that at food lion too. I'm gonna have to grab that. Thanks for the tip about te lack of eating. Found a little read on that and seems to be that happens a couple days before birth.

I have noticed the back is not as puffy anymore. It looks lumpier. Like weasels in a feed sack

Alot of times i notice my females eating will slow or stop the night before and start swimming up the sides of the tank alot

Birth usually happens at night or whenever u usually have the lights off

my females always stop eating about 3 days before they give birth.. they also climb the glass like vamp said. i also notice that my males give her a really hard time right before and after birth.. also everytime mine give birth i can hear her splashing in the next room. it is very messy so get ready to do water changes, esp after the male tags her again . u will see a white "plug" of seman from the male if he is still in the same tank so dont be too scared cause i freaked out thinking she push too hard and her insides popped out LOL... i hope this helps  fant wait to see the pups.

Thanks guys for the help. She's always been very active, climbing the glass and splashing around so that would t be out of the ordinary. Her lack o appetite I will notice. The male w her is not the one who had had gotten her pregnant. He is mature and I'm very interested in seeing how he does. M almost positive he's a wc import. I'm hoping for him to knock her up. He is a marble. I'll be posting updates
