well ive purchased glass used tanks and am now looking at larger acrylic tanks and is there anything i should be looking for before buying? both are empty and in storage right now. a 400 and 300

Make sure you see them filled and not leaking. Watch for bowing. Look across the face of the tank longwise, like you're aiming a rifle, and you should only see a very slight bow. Scratches and yellowing are usually considered more cosmetic than structural. That's all I've got.

Glass:
Examine the seals very closely and look very, very closely for tiny cracks. Small chips are usually okay on corners, but if the chip is half the thickness of the glass, or very wide, pass on the deal. Also, I like to push very gently at the silicone seal and make sure my fingernail doesn't slide right under it.

thanks for the info. its always hard to get someone to fill tanks this size but thats always been my first question. i may offer to bring them to my house and use my water. the 400 is 1" acrylic and was installed in a wall. its been in storage 6 months. it was a saltwater setup? whats a good price? the 300 is also empty but is sitting outside on the side of the owner's brothers house. good price? will the 1"acrylic bow?
