What to look for while choosing a Thai Silk FH?

Hello MFK,

I am from Bombay, India and I think I have see a few Thai Silk ("titanium") Flower Horns at some stores here.

The local shopkeeper quoted about 250 USD for an 8 inch one which is before haggling.

Before I even consider buying a Thai Silk, I need to know what to look for while choosing a Thai Silk FH?

I am of the opinion that buying smaller (and hence relatively cheaper) fish and then watching them grow into really majestic beautiful fish is more fun than just buying a big beautiful fish. So, if I go for a Thai Silk it will be about 2-3 inches in length.

if you can have fish imported. then i must recommend buying from the source. $250 seems real high for one of those. i guess size could play a huge part in the price. i've seen 2-3inch large frys of these going for $20-$50 bucks a pop.

Everyone have different views when it comes to flower horn. Some people like big koks and other like hard koks. Some people like short body's other like the traditional shape. I think it all depends if the fish is worth it to you. The fish you post up are great examples to go by. Remember this fish is going to be in your tank and not ours.
