the male is 10"and the female is 7" but there both skittish i had them for bout 2 weeks and all they do is hide in the caves so i took all the decor out except the flowerpot and did a large water change and now they hide at the top of the tank and aftere the water change the female laid about 20 eggs.
what can i put in with these guys to bring out their personality?

thanks in advance

goose.

hmmm i dont think taking out the caves and rocks was a great idea.
there's probably a reason they are hiding a lot... check water quality? also, from my experience it helps if the tank background is darker along with the general surroundings.
also, my cichlids are so used to my semi dark room with the blinds usually down 75% that external light sources such as lamps, fluorescent lights (when i try and take pictures) freak them out and they end up hiding.
those are just some ideas.
you might try some large dither fish? or maybe dither fish that can also become a meal? :D

a pleco :D

I don't think there is much you can put with a single Dovii that big, let alone a pair:grinno:

bring out there personality as in, kick the liveing crap of whatever you put in there with them?

i really wouldn't put anything with them. they are a very large and agro cichlid, that gets nice big chompers, bad idea.
