I am new to all of this. I love fish, wanted to go to school for marine biology then i picked up my first retic. But i want to learn more about fish keeping. I have an old 75 gallon tank i picked up from my old job. I think its an over flow at the top? its got 3 plumbing pipes sticking out of the top where that box is. i can post pictures in a little bit. I have some gold fish but what would be other fish that i can put in it? i have never done a salt water tank is this too much to start out with? and what about filtration? can i build one?

Welcome, start looking up information related to a sump. Its another tank used for filtration.

breed convicts, easy to breed and easy to look after very hardy aggressive little cichlids you will love em!-)

that fish in your pict looks awesome !. ok so i looked some stuff up. But still confused. Can i use a 10gallon tank for a sump? ihave an extra laying around. Or do i need something bigger. Do i also need a filter with the sump?

and i would like something with color to spice up my room haha. As with my 70 snakes, color is a big thing in "morphs" not sure if you guys have those in fish but id imagien so.

researching all the various types first, will give you a better chance for success.salt-water tank might not be best for someone new to fish-keeping.cichlids are great, many colors, with some fish having personality.i would visit a GOOD local fish store that deals with fish only,to view and ask some basic questions also

Sounds good thanks guys. Yeah my dad said cichlids are super easy. I like the colors of african cichlids. Ok so im gonna start off with my 75 gallon tank. Can i use a canister filer/something similar.
