I just got 8 old small tanks for free from my lfs. They are all 14 x 16 x 14.5h (14g) with metal frames. I am going to probably give them to my school. What would be good to put in them? A marine nano is out of the question because of the metal frames that they have (unless I paint them). I have thought of:

betta
guppies
neons and tetras
mollies
platies
poison dart frogs
spider
scorpion
millipede
preying mantis

wait, metal framed, slate bottoms? if so bring them to me! forget the school!!

Yeah, what are you thinking? Open a museum, don't let those go! Heck, sell them here marked up to hell for profit if you really don't want them. Why keep them from serious enthusiasts who can appreciate their charm?

They aren't slate bottomed, they have a glass bottom. I was told that they came from an old k-mart store (like a small walmart). They are all glass with metal trim (with some rust spots on top) around all of the edges. I will probably have to paint the metal frame to look presentable. Or I may just keep them and open my own local fish store.;)

put some black sand, and go with a bunch of blind cave tetras, if its for a school, it seems like neat display

Dwarf frogs are pretty cool. I was also thinking about setting up a terrarium with poison dart frogs. I already have a lot of wingless flies growing for my Malaysian Spiny Praying Mantis so food supply shouldn't be a problem.
