I am wondering if I could put a 1 inch Bartoni cichld in 10 gallon tank temporarily?From the research I have seen, they grow 7 inches, but never seen what the growth rate is.I would like to at least get the Bartoni to reach at least 3 inches or so, before putting in the 125 gallon tank.

I think it would be okay in a 10 gallon until it reaches 3" as long as you keep up with maintenance.
You may need to bump it up to twice weekly after a while to avoid stunting. I'd just test the water occasionally to make sure.
NO you wanna do more WC to avoid damaging the growth of the fish. If you get a pair you will less time you can keep them in a 10 gallon as they wont have anywhere to get away from the other
Ok, I know when I had my EBJD in the 10 gallon at one point, I did the water changes twice a month, but I would test the water to make sure that nothing has changed though.
