So I just got my first tank today, a 29G. Im gonna get it going soon but i was wondering what i could stock it with. A was thinking African cichlid's but im still not sure. Any thoughts?

my opinion..stay away from cichilds, they want more than 29g. I've always kept tiger barb. Those are fun, nasty little fin nippers.

My 29g has: 6 zebra danios, 5 brilliant rasboras, 5 julii cories, 3 albino cories, female betta, Bolivian ram (female?), and a few odd snails. I enjoy it a lot -- peaceful, but pretty active and very simple to care for...

How about a starter saltwater tank? This is if you have not tried salt water and have a desire to try it. 29 gallons is suppose to be an ideal size to start with.

Can go with a solo Salvini cichlid add some dithers and a small catfish.

Low tech planted tank and add like 20-25 african dwarf frogs!

1 Leopard Ctenopoma, and some small catfish species. Maybe a synodontis catfish or smaller SA catfish.

Well this is my first non goldfish tank so idk about saltwater. can cichlid's be kept solo?

Sure there is several smaller/medium cichlids that can be solo. Firemouths are another good choice, rainbow cichlids, Blue Acara etc. You might be able to even fit a pair inside a 29 gal.
