hey i am new here and i just bougth a 1000 gallon tank from a friend that bought it but never used it and i was wondering if you all that have those monsters fishes could tell me what kind of fishes should i put in there so they could become monster fishes.

1000 gallon take? hmmm arrowana.. that would be the happiest fish in the world in there 
shovelnose cat would be pretty cool too. I dunno about mid-level fish though. Most likely chiclids. I don't know which type to go with personally though. You want something that will get large though

get ya a tiger shovelnose catfish, maybe a wells catfish, red tail catfish, red tail tsn hybrid catfish, would look awsom in that taNK. For large cichlids get some peacock bass if you unfamiler with what they look like search for the florida fishing thread bunch of pics in there of them
Your options are almost unlimited . You could do fresh watter rays in there. Jags, midas, dovi, anything your harts content . What are you planing on useing for filtration on this tank. You will most likel;y need a wet dry . You could possibly go with a 65 or 75 gal tank and convert it into a wet dry filter for the tank other members here can clairfy how to make a tank into a filter.You could get hang on baCK OVERFLOWS FOR THE WET DRY SYSTEM . OTHER WISE YOU GONNA NEED A ****LOAD OF HANG ON BACK FILTERS. iF You chose hang on back filters i recoment min ten ac500 filters they made by aqua clear but that will be alittle costly to purchase all of them and be cheaper to make the extrea tank into a filter most likely.
Other fish you could do would be arowanas ,jardini, hell there ways to many to list. What kind of temperments are you looking for?
If you wanting mini giants and colorfull tank you could turn it into one hell of a african rifts lake tank with like a thousand mbuna in it would be cool to watch

some friend of my friend told me it would be good if i put a pond filter but i dont know anything about pond filters and and when i get everything that i need how should i cycle it should i use my fish that i already have in my 55 gallon tank or what?
I would use one of these Aquabead filters and a sump as an additional biological filter. Then you are all set. you will get crystal clear water...
