What to put in...

So i picked up a free canister filter from someone on craigslist, and was wondering what do i put inside of it? It's called a fluval 305.
links would be helpful on what i put into it.

it has 3 layered compartments that are split in half, then on the other side it has another compartment that is like a rectangle.

I got the filter to run, and it outputs water so i know it works. but i need help figuring out what i need to put into the compartments to make the filter run the best

I'm not sure how the 305 is set up but if its set up like the fx5 and the filter sponges are on the outside of the baskets in the baskets I would would put ceramic rings in all three that's what most of us here does. Sorry no link but I would suggest trying to find them in bulk because buying the fluval brand is expensive. If you are able to find them in bulk please share the link because I haven't been able to.

The rectangles on the one side are for sponges. I have some fine filter floss pads cut to fit in one of the baskets and the other two are ceramic bio-media. They also make carbon packs to fit them, but I don't constantly run carbon. I just keep a little around in case I need to remove meds or something
