Hi new to this site, looks awesome. I have a new 300 gallon tank coming and was wondering what to put between the tank and stand, if anything. The stand will be steel and built by a company that does tank stands. The tank is 108"x24"x26" and all glass. Thanks.

If it's a flat bottom tank which means glass will touch the stand then you need heavy plywood. If it's a tank like Marineland or oceanic where glass makes no contact but only trim then nothing

As long as the stand is level, the tank is level, and they meet evenly all along the bottom, you should be good. Use a long level and measure and check all of that before filling with water and then enjoy!

Hi the tank is 9' long will it be safe to use plywood under it or just make sure it it level?

I would use plywood, because I've always used it on my rimmed tanks and I've never had a problem (cracks, leaks, fractures) across many tanks. That's not to say that a glass tank that is rimmed can't be perfectly fine sitting on a bare metal stand assuming everything is level. I simply have never had a metal stand that lacked minor imperfections (e.g., spurs) along the edge.

@ Dr. I havent got my stand yet. i am gonna put either 6x6 or 8x8 timber blocks then flat iron under the stand. I think that will distribute the weight enough. I do think i will put a hardwood plywood between the tank and stand just to be safe.
