I just put a 10 inch black aro in my 125. As of now he is in there with a spotted gar. i was wondering what you guys put in w/ your aros. i am wanting to add some south american cichlids (not sure if the aggression levels will be too high) here is what i am wondering if will work. some choices - jack dempsey, texas cichlid, oscar, managuense, red tiger motaguense, green or red terror, flowerhorn. these are just some ideas. i was even thinking about a couple of fronts. and yes i am upgrading w/ in the year. thanks for the replies.

Having had a Jardini, Silver, and now a Black I think all of those choices are asking for trouble. You may be able to get away with it, but blacks seem to be much more passive then the other two types. I think you would be fine if the aro is much bigger then the others, but if they are even close to the same size then I would say no. I have mine in with a Royal knife, datnoids, fei feng, and a few tinfoil barbs are cleanup/dither fish. Goodluck!

My black arowana tankmates includes:

1x retic. stingray
a pair of nicaraguense
1x tigrinus
geophagus
red head severums
Hopefully a payara in the near future.

Mine is accompanied by a 7" red tiger moto., a flowerhorn, 2 Uaru, silver dollars, 9 Polypterus, a crap-load of plecos, clown loaches and a distichodus. No problems......yet:D .

what size are your fish and the size of the tank. how long have they all lived together. thanks. any pics?

Just posted about this in another forum. Local silver arow about 24" turned in was tore up by a bunch of cichlids. Wouldn't recommend those at all.
I have currently in mine 220gallon:
1 Black arow 13"
2 silver arows 9"
1 clown knife 15"
1 royal ck 10"
1 african knife 7"
1 fw moray 24" (will be getting sw 135 set up soon:D )
1 rtc 8"
1 Synodontis cat 6"
No issues so far here either. The most agressive in my tank is the black arow actually lol

i have a 10" black with a 20" fire eel and a 9" dat and some others. Must say that the aro is a bit afraid of the dat and will swim away when eel or dat come too close. It was worse and is getting much better now that he is growing and i think it will be good in a couple of weeks. bottomline, make sure your aro is good size compared to the others.
