Yet another dilemma over here...
So I have a 125, freshwater, non drilled, with tan sand. My FX5 intake is probably a foot above the sand and I still get a ton of it in the filter. I'd rather not bust my favorite filter I've ever owned.
So here's the hard part...
I have no idea where to begin calculating sump sizes and what not. Is a sump better to use with sand? And I would prefer to keep my sand because I was going to plant my tank, and plants don't hold as well in torpedo beach gravel even though it's some tiny stuff. I also just bought stuff for a CO2 set up.
Right now I have a baby silver aro and hybrid cat in my growout tank, and I know the hybrid will only throw more sand in the FX5 once he gets some size.
I have been interested in discus for a long time. They won't stir up much sand, correct? Keep some plants and the sand with my FX5 with some discus?
Thoughts on what I should do?
