Hey everyone, I bought a 90g for my office at work annnnd my boss said I got about a 200 dollar budget for now.:irked: What should put in this stubby tank? I believe the dimensions are L36 W24 H24. (it was a flowerhorn breeder tank I think) My boss may up my budget depending on how he thinks it looks :) Oh and the crappy part is I still need bigger rocks. I dont wanna give up any of my rocks in my tanks, so Ill probably need to buy some. I have heard of asking a construction company for samples of their rocks and just cleaning them but Im a bit sketchy about doing that. Any ideas for rocks or fish feel free to share!!!! thanks!

ps... It doesnt matter if it is a friendly tank or aggressive, he said "Cassandra, this is your project, just make it look good and dont have it cost me a fortune..." hahaha DONE!! :naughty:

I'm guessing it's got to be a low maintenance tank if it's in your office... so, if you get a pleco, get one that doesn't get very large, like a butterfly plec or something. You could go with a single tankbuster like a clown knife that would become the wet pet of the office... but that's a fairly high maintenance fish. for pretty, hardy, easy, and cheap, it'd be tough to beat an african setup.

I'd look for something unique and colorful. It doesn't have to be anything huge. African cichlids would be a good first choice. Blue rams are very pretty and peaceful. Another option would be freshwater puffers. I hope that gives you some ideas

hmmmmm yea thats what i was thinking, see i live 2 miles from work so if its high maint. then Im the one who has to take care of it. No worries but if I quit, I dont want it to die :( hmm yea I was thinkin about a huge clown knife. I found one at a lfs. Thanks guys... Im always open to ideas

Clown knife attain a size greater then 2ft. They need hundreds of gallons. Not just a stubby 90. LMAO.

Ever thought of a low tech planted tank?
That or an african.

Select a few attractive africans...hit a landscaping yard for rocks...toss in a couple of red jewels for color and activity...pool filter sand substrait...you should be good to go.

Tinfoil Barbs, Giant Danios, Rainbowfish, and a couple Blood Parrots or Severums..

Loaches, Catfish, and Plecos on the bottom..

Some type of the bichir! Maybe a Endi Endi? im not to sure where they max out though, ill get back to you on some guys you could put in there. You could always a BGK ( Black Ghost Knife ) I dont think they pass the 24" but they are quite shy. If you want a nice tank community tank then i would recommend a school of about 3-5 clown loaches, 2-3 Rainbow fish, a nice big school Cardinal Tetra's, maybe 1 angel and possibley a sword fish or two for variety. So the stocking list would be this:

- 15-20 Cardinal Tetra
- 3-5 Clown Loaches
- 2-3 Rainbow fish
- 1 Angel fish
- 1-2 Swordfish ( all male or all female unless you want babies everywhere )

And if you really wanna make the tank simple for cleaning just make it a sump with a big rubbermaid bin and just make it so it filters through the tub in a current so in one direction and just make it so you can pull out media to wash it off, or just do a few HOB filters like i would! :D lol

Plant the tank up and it will look great, some big piece of driftwood for the center piece maybe give the tank a nice moss wall with a nice moss like christmas or peacock moss, they would look great! Throw in some anubias in the front some java fern in the middle and some swords for the back and you got one hell of a tank!

Good Luck!
