What top dwellers to keep?

Hi to all bros and sis in mfk,

I got a 280gal tank, height 2.5ft with 20 bichirs, 2 cichlids, 1 siamese and 1 niger cat.

It looks so busy at the bottom but empty at the top. Any advice what can i keep other than aros or gars?

Which are the gars that would not grow too big?

I was thinking of a long snout or a cuban but heard they can hit 1metre even in captivity isit true?
