hi everyone - quick question for all you ray fans;

i am buying a 314gal tank for some rays and was wondering what turnover rate you guys have - this is so i can purchase the correct pump for my sump

i was thinking of a turnover rate of 5x ??? is this too little or too much???

your help is greatly appreciated thanks :headbang2

wow :nilly: is your water quite turbulent? is this the sort of turnover i should be looking at? i take it you have circulation pumps when you say in tank turnover? something like a hydor koralia? :confused:

so what pump(s) are you running? i have no idea where to start?!!!!!!!!! can you point me in the right direction please?

i do 5x...i tired running more and it was way to much for my 600 gallon
running a sump tank....and the pump runs 4000 gallons a hour but i lose 1000 gallon due to the piping so about 3000 gallons a hour.....and i have a fx5 running on the back for a water polisher.so about 5x per hour would be great...is your tank drilled if not i say something like three fluval fx5 on that size?

how many rays in that 600 gal though?

i always shoot for 10x min. i run about 15x on all my tanks right now.

four rays...14 inch female motoro 10 inch male motoro and 7.5 marble male 6.5 female
i tried going with a higher pump 6500 gallon a hour way to much.....blew everything around lol but if i could figure out a way to run more gallons per hour i would do it.... i have some power heads in my six too....

i run 5,283 gph so about 5 x per hour :D

i run a reeflo hammerhead (5800gph) on my sump then in tank i have 3 hydor koralia's at 1200gph each. the powerheads i have on a timer to run twice a day to throw everything in the overflow. works great for me i dont really need to use the powerheads but i have them so i thought i might as well use them.
