The driftwood in my tank have this black fuzzy looking growth on them? Does anyone know what kind of algae this is and what will get rid of it. thanks for the help

Pics would help, but it sounds like black brush algae. This means there is an imbalance in your nutrients. What are your nitrates and phosphate levels at? Fastest treatment is a bleach dip.

I would soak it in water that was treated with good dose of prime, for a few days.
That would actually not do very much to bba.

so just dip the driftwood in bleach and rinse it off well or do i have to soak it in water?
Does this wood have any plants on it? If so, then a 1:19 solution is needed, and depending on the plant 2-4 minutes will do. If there are no plants on the wood, then a 1:15 solution will be more effective. Do not use pure bleach on wood.
