I can't seem to make up my mind on which kind to buy. I don't exactly want to spend a lot of money right now, but I know my tank will need a better filtration system. I had in there for several years 3 12"+ pacus, 2 oscars, achara catfish 12" and various other fish throughout the years. I only had 2 AC 500's and a UV sterilizer with powerhead for 40-70g (dismiss powerhead as source of water flow). The tank basically ran itself with almost no maintenance (somehow).

I recently redid the tank, but did not empty out the water and kept the filters as normal. I know have

1 achara catfish 12"
1 pleco 9"
1 oscar 7"
4 3" irridiscent sharks
4 2-3" tricolor/bala sharks
2 2" rainbow sharks
1 2-3" redtailed shark
2 1-2" columbian sharks

I know that these fish will get big as I've had them all before. I got these fish about 1 1/2 months ago. I changed the gravel over to sand almost 2 weeks ago. Parameters are all fine, and no major problems.

I just got a marineland hot magnum for my 54g and I really like how it works. Was thinking about getting the bigger one for the 125g, but read how some ppl have had bad experiences with them and having to buy parts for.

Any thoughts?

I have 2x 125g with 2 AC110/500 and an Eheim 2217 canister. And it works. I have also used this same setup on a 180g, but I needed more with that. However that 180g was overstocked.

im running 2 emperor400 hob and a fx5.....which is way overkill but need for my fish stock!!!

What if I just get a smaller canister for it? One that only goes up to say 70g? Something to supplement the AC's? Or should I just go the whole way and get the largest one? I know too much won't hurt.....

I've read so much on fluval and Eheim. My lfs said that she has cascade (sp?) and does a great job.

I really liked how the marineland magnum hangs on the back of the tank, and has an on/off switch right there on it, but it doesn't do a bioload......

Ebay does have a bunch of Jebo's real cheap.....almost too convincing.....
