I want to get a Datnoid but I am not completely clear on the different types of species and which my tank best suits. It seems like the two main choices are silver datnoids and gold datnoids....what is the difference between the two?? My tank is on the warm side at about 80 degrees Farenheit with a ph of 6.5. This datnoid's tankmates will be an 8 inch silver arowana, 7 inch pleco, and a 5 inch Black Ghost Knife. Anybody have any Datnoid info that may help me make a decision as to what type to get??

i think it's personal preferance and what you can get your hands on. The most common dats here in MD are silvers and indos. my tank is housing 3 aros, 1 gar, 4 clown loaches, a pleco, clown knife, butis butis, 3 indo dats, 1 ngt, 1 st(widebar), and 1 ntt (thinbar). they all get along fine. i think the indos are a little more aggressive than the silvers. shoot, why not get one of each :)

Its ur personal preference which tiger u would like to keep??

As far as i know there are 5 types of tiger dats. North Tailand Tiger (NTT, thinbar), ST (Siamese Tiger, Widebar), IT Indonesian Tiger, the NGT(New Guinea Tiger), and the AT (american tiger, silver dat)

Those are the only kind I have ever seen..How much u willing to spend, how big is ur tank?
It's all on u..

There's a stickey about the different types.

you're forgetting indo dats(IT). also very common.

i would suggest a larger dat since they grow pretty slow and you're going to be adding in a tank with a larger arowana. my friend had a bunch of smaller dats in with a larger aro and it picked off almost all the dats.

i have an IT and AT but i really a NGT

get the IT/gold dat

silver tigers are a brackish water fish they can be kept in full fresh water but that doesnt change the fact that they are a brackish water fish
