WHAT TYPE OF DITHERS WOULD YOU USE IN A CA CICHLID TANK

Whats up i was wondering what dithers would you use to distract a male from a female central american cichlid let me know

Depends what sized CA cichlid, say a swordtail is a good dither for Thorichthys, while swordtails wouldnt be a good dither for Parachromis.

None. Dithers are to draw out shy cichlids. You are looking for a target fish, and the best thing to use is another cichlid equal in size to handle the male in a standoff.

i tried tiger barbs once, i really liked them but i guess they weren't big enough and ended up 'disappearing.' i think i might try them again some time but get the biggest i can find or buy a ton of tiny ones and just grow them out. the biggest fish i have in my tank is 5.5" and i have a hard time finding dithers big enough.

If you are looking for target fish I would go with jewel cichlids. But if you are going for dithers I would go with danios, tinfoil barbs, or some other medium to small fast moving shiny fish.
