So I bought this eel being told it’s a marble eel. After looking at pics online of marble eels this guy does not seem to fit or maybe they change colors/patterns as they age? If need be I could get a better pic with his head showing but I didn’t want to stress him out anymore. Just got him today.

Gymnothorax tile! It is truly a brackish fish, keep it in 1.010 or higher. Known commonly as the "freshwater" or Indian mud moray. Will likely get longer than two feet over time

Thank you very much, it always helps knowing what you have in order to properly take care of them. They sold him as a freshwater eel, not brackish. So I’m having a delema now. Should I take him back or keep him. I have him with my two peacock bass (which are not brackish). Can’t put him with my Jaguar or he will surely be killed, and don’t feel comfortable with putting him in the other tank with my stingray/arowana.

Return it. You were led to believe it was a 100% freshwater eel for its lifetime.

I thought about that, I went out and got a hydrometer and salt today. Then after reading about it on here and other online places and now realizing how much salt I will need I’m changing my mind. I do water changes every couple of days. I would be going through a lot of salt. I currently have him in a 75 gallon aquarium. I do a 50% water change, that means I’ll need to add 3.5 -4cups of salt every other day. Seems like to much work/money.
