What type of glass are tanks made of?

i am getting ready to build a plywood 150g and i wanted to know what glass to use for a viewing window besides acrylic. any other suggestions would be good thanks.

tempered glass or saphire glass

thanks, if there any other practical options please let me know. right now i would go with tempered glass im guessing about 1/2 in. thick.

I used 10mm 'plain float glass' on my 7x2x2 - same stuff you'd use for windows (do people really use tempered glass for aquariums?)

i use (normal) Float glass. plenty of calculators around to work out what thickness is required (im in UK)
