I have a piece of glass that used to be what covered the top of a desk we had. It is 46" long, 17" high and 1/4" thick. I was wondering what type it is. Are the pieces of glass that companies cut for this purpose usually plate or tempered? I read sometime back that there was an easy little test to tell what type it is, but I forgot what it is.

I think you can see rainbow colors in the tempered glass when you wear polarized glasses.

Yeah, you have to have some type of polarizing lens to tell. Someone posted a link about using a laptop.
