As stated, what type of live do you feed your cichla? (If any) Just wondering, what everyone here prefers and why.

Well, this is my policy with ANY of my pets (fish or otherwise): Only feed something that I have grown myself.

Hey, if you have the space to set up a goldfish/mealworm/redworm/superworm/other feeder farm, you should do it! That way, not only can you be sure that your feeders are disease free, you can also pack them full of vitamins and minerals!

gupps..... & worms....

Convicts, jags, carpintis hybrids, snails, goldfish, and other various culls...

Africans!

if i ever feed mine live its about 1 a month and its my convicts i harvest them when there about half inch long so there spikes arnt made of cartiliage yet so it wont damage my fishs mouth. and another plus is me knowing there not parasidic before i feed them.

i put other...i feed any type of feeder except goldfish from the lfs but ONLY ON OCASSION.
i also feed any fish i catch from the canals.

If I could find a source of juv. cichlids reasonably priced thats what I would feed. This winter they are getting quarantined bait shop shiners, but this spring they will probably get wild caught quarantined sunfish.

minnows, goldfish, black worms, and sometimes ghost shrimp
