I rescued this guy from a LFS and he was pretty beat up in a tank with a large Uro and a FH. He is about 4 inches long. I put him in my 125 where he is looking alot better and his tattered fins are healing. He looks just like a typical red oscar, but he is very gold. What do I have here?

i think you better watch your oscar because the festae and texas will beat the crap out of him

probably a red tiger oscar...

Nope, the festae and the jag have been with O's their whole life. They never bother them. I would not have rescued him only to send him to his death. I am really lucky that I have a very calm, jag, festae, and FH that allow tankmates. No one really fights. If this became a problem it would be the Oscar starting something and the others fighting back. Red tiger huh?? Why the gold?

He's not stressed. He is swimming around happily. I have seen lemon oscars, but this is not one. I have just never seen an oscar with gold. Probably just a different strain of red.

Juvenile red coloration. All oscars go through a color change.

I have had juvy reds before. None were gold like this. You may be right, but I have never seen it. With how fast Oscars grow, we'll know in a few months. Here is one from Rapps in this link. Does he look like one of these???

Looks like a red oscar to me, a bit gold yes but with young reds thats not always so odd.

His eyes are also gold. Will that change too?
