im plainning on painting the back of my tank black. only problem is i dont know what kind of paint to use. i want to be able to remove it if i wanna change the color or if i dont want it. and i dont want to use spray paint cause the tank is in my basement and i dont want to have to move it up stairs to paint it. so for those of you that have painted your tanks, what kind of paint did you use?

You didn't specify glass or plastic?

There have just been several threads on this recently, you may get your answers with a search there faster.

sorry bout that its a glass tank. i tried to search but there wasnt really a straight forward answer

On glass I've used them all, enamel, latex, even oil base. As long as the water won't touch it your ok and a razor blade will take any of them off :D.

I liked enamels and latex wasn't bad either just clean the glass to perfection (alcohol as the last cleaner with a good quality paper towel (no lint)) , tape off the plastic, lay some newspaper down for any drips or dropped brushes, cover the tank & filter shut off air pump if you got one, ventilate the room, and start brushing.

I like spray paints whenever possible, I streak (with several colors) the sides and back to give some depth and kind of looks like the side of a river underwater. Haven't tried it with a brush tho.

A roller and white latex colored to your hearts desire at any paint store. You can remove almost any paint from glass with a razor blade, but for me latex has always been the easiest to remove.
