As my tank project is winding down I am curious as to what type of paint to just for the outside of the tank,

Interior or Exterior?
Acrylic or latex?

Should I Kilz it first?
Acrylic or latex?

Just a few more minor things to finish in in the house it goes. :headbang2

used Behr Paint and Primer (black) for the back of my 125. used three coats and it looks good.

It's pretty much up to you. Int or Ext will be just fine. You can save a little work by going with a paint that has the primer built into it. An exterior or bathroom paint may offer a little extra protection. Heck, I drywalled the outside of my tank and will be doing the molding and painting tomorrow.

just for the fact that your tank may get a little water splashing on it here and there i would use an oil based paint. i have this stuff called "barn and fence" paint that i used to paint my 3 stall dog house and used the same stuff to paint my parents barn for there miniature horses. stands up great to weather, gives it a nice shine. its waterproof, non toxic.

Do you guys get a product in the US called gripseal?

It is a water based pigmented sealant and it a dream to work with. It is what I used on the whole outside of my tank
