I had 5 rbp's back in the day but they were boring as they never moved. I am setting up my new 120 gallon and need suggestions. I LOVE Pacu's but they grow too big. I'm looking for a type of Piranha that will grow big and will at least move around a little. And money is no object. In fact, I think it would be cool to have some type of rare Piranha but I have no idea if there is such a thing.

do you want solo piranha or a shoal?
if a shoal you could try cariba or even piraya
if solo fish then see if you can get your hands on a manueli

Like JP said if you want a shoal then go with cariba or piraya. They both grow larger than natts and will grow above 12+". There are some pics on MFK of a 16" cariba and 20+" piraya. They seem to be less skittish, so more comfortable and more aggressive. My 3 large cariba are in constant motion. Our sponsors have both in stock now.

If you go solo you and want a large fish look at buying a large S. rhom, but thier activity level varies from fish to fish.

Do some searches on here and youtube to see what you like.

Awesome. Thanks for the advice. I would prefer to have a shoal so I'll look into the Cariba or Piraya. Given my tank size, how many could I get?

What are the demensions of your tank? If it is 48"x24" footprint I would say 3 piraya or 4 cariba. If it has a 72"x18" footprint you could probably do 4 piraya or 5 cariba. It will really depend on the tempermant of your fish. If you start small then you could go with 7 or so and thin the shoal as they grow.

I have three large 9-11" cariba in a 125g, 72"x18"x21". I have thought about adding more maybe two more pygos but I'm not sure.

I have an odd footprint - 60" x 18" x 24". I could probably get by with 4-5 Cariba based on your recommendations, correct?
