Have a crack in the actual canister housing/unit itself and was looking to get some glue to see if it will hold. However, I have no idea what type of plastic it is made out of, and I have been searching around the web and I haven't found anything.

Does anyone happen to know? Or maybe know of a good all purpose type of sealant/glue to use?

Superglue. But if it were my canister I'd replace the broken part because I wouldn't want to risk having a flood in my house.

Get a hot soldering iron, just the cheap kind (you can get it at any $1 store). Find some extra soft plastic can, such as coffee mate, etc... Aplly the the HD iron on the crack, and weld it together with the extra plastic. Try to mix/blend those 2 together.

or ABS

So what do you guys think? Pics of the crack below...repairable or just setting myself up to drain my tank?

I'm sorry for so many questions - just not all THAT handy. I can do a lot of stuff on my own though and anything with a PC I can fix np.

I was reading about a product that might work for your situation. I haven't bought it yet but you might want to try it. It's called Plast-aid and they do have a website you can purchase from.

i'd buy a used one and sell the un-needed extra parts on ebay or here. i wouldn't risk it, sometimes it's better to bite the bullet.
