I am getting a new 90 gal tank and a silver Arowana ( i know i am getting a 180 early next year). What type of pleco would be a good tankmate? I never had an Aro before but love my plecos and I don't want to make a costly mistake.

A big one that can't be eaten. For example royals, scarlets, adonis, sunshines... If it can't be eaten really.

Like Davo said... anything that gets large, around the 12" size... scarlets and sunshines are good looking large plecos, marble sailfins would look good too

I disagree, any non-albino pleco will generally work fine, so long as it has many places to hide. I have kept large arowana with both clowns and blue panaques with no problems. Albino plecos do not work well in aros IME, as they are a sore thumb in the tank with a bullseye on their head.

i mostly have various sized common plecos, and a beautiful 20ish inch silver aro. She has never tried to bother them, no matter which size was in the tank with her at the time.

the tank she's in now has the cave dweller in it, and i'm fairly certain cave dweller is about 9 inches long now. Me and the Aro (pinky) are watching him eat his squash.
