SO what type of rocks can you add in your tank for decoration not substrate?????Do you Clean the rocks when you buy them find or something just wondering??????:D

Not sure what type of rocks you cannot put in.

As for cleaning them, I like to boil them. If they are too big to boil, you can also put a small amount of bleach in water and let them soak. Just make sure you do an excellent job of rinsing all the bleach off.

I have heard of people just rinsing them off real well with hose or pressure washer.

I only use hard ones.

anything that doesn't fizzle when I pour vinegar on it is good

i like to us slate and what i think is sandstone
thats the answer i am looking for names of rocks and what not!

Slate, sandstone-I have some awesome fossilized sandstone burrows that are tubular and great hiding places for fish and shrimp, granite, gneiss, that cool holey black Oregon basalt, limestone especially the holey stuff, pretty much anything that looks cool and isn't crumbly or full of something that is possibly harmful. I know there are some cool river rocks in Northern California. Around here we also have big fossil oysters and ammonites that look cool in a tank. If you don't know what something is, do some research on local rocks, and if still stuck, go to a local university and someone will help you out.

Some people worry about limestone altering their pH... It might buffer your water a little bit, but it breaks down relatively slowly compared to some other stuff. I wouldn't pack a soft water tank full of it, though, because you will be fighting raised water hardness.

No marble, limestone or stuff that will react with acids to release carbon dioxide into the water

You're not putting your fish in HCl, are you? I've never seen any rock fizz in tank water. The problem might arise if you are trying to keep your water soft, and the bicarbonate from limestone keeps buffering your water back up to a medium hardness and slightly higher pH.

Fish release CO2 in the water all day, and plants do it by night.

Any pictures of your tanks with cool looking rocks??POST THEM HERE!
